Boyan Rassate was born on 2 September, 1971 in Sofia as a single child of Boyan Stankov, a technical engineer, and Temenuga Popnikolova, an auxiliary pharmacist.

His mother is a descendant on her paternal side of the famous Kramolin clan of the Popnikolovi. Pop Nikola was one of the founders of the local Secret revolutionary committees during the struggle for national liberation from the Turkish conquerors.

Vilhelm Popnikolov fought in World War II and was awarded two medals for bravery. Nikola Popnikolov was a Bulgarian nationalist and was sentenced to death by the so-called “people’s court” because of “subversive” activities in the district of Sevlievo.

Boyan went with his parents to Stuttgart, Germany, where his father worked, when he was four years old. He left the German school he had attended when his father died and having lived abroad for almost five years, he returned to Bulgaria with his mother.

He graduated Seventh Sofia Secondary School in 1989. The same year his national army service began, he was a tankman in Kazanlak. There he experienced the effects of the beginning of the so-called “transitional period” and the “democratic changes”.

Immediately after he had done his national service and after his enthusiasm had started to subside, Boyan Rassate became a member of BNRP on 20 April, 1991. He founded the youth organization and participated in the establishment of the party structures all over the country. However, the efforts were vain, because unstable people, who strove for material privileges and “nationalism” was only an empty word for them, bumped into the party. Its leadership propagated wild slogans, and the foreign financial means was not used properly. Gradually the dignified and decent members were slandered as troublemakers and then were expelled. The rest, among them Boyan Rassate, left the organization in protest.

In 1992 he enrolled the New Bulgarian University with subject “Political Sciences”. Meanwhile, he worked as a cleaner in a locomotive depot, as well as an assistant and night watchman in different firms.

Currently he continues his studies. Boyan has an excellent command of German and Russian. In 1997 he started his own business which he gave up later in order to dedicate all his strength and efforts to the service to his Fatherland.

He is married and has a daughter.

He has been under investigation since 1999 and a defendant since 2002 after accusations had been brought against him on behalf of a gypsy criminal.

His interests lie in the area of history. He is also an amateur parachutist and a member of the sports organization “Edelweiss”. He doesn’t smoke and drinks no alcohol.

Nowadays as one of the joint founders of BNS Boyan Rassate is a leader of the organization in Sofia and head of the Disciplinary committee.

"Happiness is not to be found only in money, the occupational career or possessions, because one can have all these things and still not be fulfilled. Happy are only the ones who devote themselves whole-heartedly to the well-being of their people and the Fatherland."
